The Advent: Suffering Messiah Vs Conquering Messiah – Telugu Sermon Points

Mark 13:37 - నేను మీతో చెప్పుచున్నది అందరితోను చెప్పుచున్నాను; మెలకువగా నుండుడనెను.

What we are going to talk now, is not a story or a mystical (ఆధ్యాత్మిక) theology (వేదాంత) which was created by men, but, it’s a historical (చారిత్రక) incident (సంఘటన) which really happened. The facts (వాస్తవాలు) Im talking about are based (ఆధారిత) on this book (Grandamu), The Holy Bible. I believe that this book is the word of God (దేవుని వాక్యము) and was inspired (ప్రేరేపిత) by the Holy Spirit speaking about my future with my Creator in his Promised Kingdom (వాగ్దానం చేసిన రాజ్యం).

There was this Perfect Kingdom (పరిపూర్ణ) created by God. It all begins when God created the heavens and the earth (భూమ్యాకాశములను). And when he saw that the earth was formless (నిరాకారముగాను శూన్యముగాను) and filled with darkness (చీకటి కమ్మియుండెను), he created light (వెలుగు కమ్మని పలుకగా వెలుగు కలిగెను). After which he created the sky and separated the seas/oceans from the dryland. Then he said let the earth/dryland bring forth plants, trees and vegetation (గడ్డిని విత్తనములిచ్చు చెట్లను, ఫలవృక్షములను). Then God created the light-bearers the sun, moon and the stars (దేవుడు ఆ రెండు గొప్ప జ్యోతులను, అనగా పగటిని ఏలుటకు పెద్ద జ్యోతిని రాత్రిని ఏలుటకు చిన్న జ్యోతిని నక్షత్రములను చేసెను.) and placed them in the sky (ఆకాశ విశాలమందు వాటి నుంచెను;) as they would provide light on the earth (భూమిమీద వెలు గిచ్చుటకును). He created living beings within the sea and oceans, created winged birds of the sky and living creatures of the earth. God blessed them to be fruitful ( ఫలించి అభివృద్ధిపొంది - వాటిని ఆశీర్వదించెను).

He did stop there. God said "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness and let them have authority over the fish of sea, birds of the sky, animals of the earth and over the entire earth (దేవుడు–మన స్వరూపమందు మన పోలికె చొప్పున నరులను చేయుదము; వారు సముద్రపు చేపలను ఆకాశపక్షులను పశువులను సమస్త భూమిని భూమిమీద ప్రాకు ప్రతి జంతువును ఏలుదురుగాకనియు పలికెను.). So God created man out of the dust of the ground (నేలమంటితో), and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and the man became a living being (నాసికా రంధ్రములలో జీవవాయువును ఊదగా నరుడు జీవాత్మ ఆయెను).


God settled man in a beautiful garden, provided food (ఆహారము) to eat and gave him a job (తోటను సేద్యపరచుటకును దాని కాచుటకును దానిలో ఉంచెను) to take care of the garden. God gave man complete authority over the entire earth (భూమిని నిండించి దానిని లోపరచుకొనుడి; సముద్రపు చేపలను ఆకాశపక్షులను భూమిమీద ప్రాకు ప్రతి జీవిని ఏలుడని దేవుడు వారితో చెప్పెను) and man had to abide by the rules of God. Basically God made a covenant (ఒడంబడిక) with man. Above all, God gifted man with free will. It was really a Perfect Kingdom with God’s people, in God’s place and under God’s rule.

===== Man chose to rebel====

It was all perfect until man chose to rebel (తిరుగుబాటు) against God by disobeying (అతిక్రమించి) God’s commandment. Because of which man was cursed, judgement (తీర్పు) came upon man and was sent out of the garden. This was the Fall of Mankind.

• People were no longer in relationship with God. 
• They no longer lived in God’s place. 
• They were no longer under God’s rule. 
• So the Perfect Kingdom perished. 
• And the world descended into chaos (అధ్వాన్నము) and wickedness (దుర్మార్గాన్ని). 
• We can read about this chaos and wickedness from Genesis 3-11. 
• It’s horrific (భయంకరమైన) when we read that, every intention (ఉద్దేశాన్ని) of Man’s heart was continually towards wickedness (దుర్మార్గాన్ని). 
• In fact the very first son of Adam and Eve was a murderer (హంతకుడు), who killed his own brother. 
• Hence it was no more a Perfect Kingdom, but people lived in a wicked world.

==== God chose Abraham====

But none of this was a surprise (ఆశ్చర్యం) to God because God is sovereign (సార్వభౌమ) and he had a plan to restore (పునరుద్ధరించడానికి) his kingdom. The plan began with Abraham in Genesis 12, when God came to Abraham and promised he would have descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky, he would have a great nation come from him, he would be blessed, he would have a land and through him all the nations would be blessed. 

1యెహోవా–… 2నిన్ను గొప్ప జనముగా చేసి నిన్ను ఆశీర్వదించి నీ నామమును గొప్ప చేయుదును, నీవు ఆశీర్వాదముగా నుందువు.౹ … భూమియొక్క సమస్తవంశములు నీయందు ఆశీర్వదించబడునని అబ్రాముతో …

నేను నిన్ను ఆశీర్వదించి ఆకాశ నక్షత్రములవలెను సముద్రతీరమందలి యిసుకవలెను నీ సంతానమును నిశ్చయముగా విస్తరింప చేసెదను; 

నీకును నీ తరువాత నీ సంతతికిని నీవు పరదేశివైయున్న దేశమును, అనగా కనానను దేశమంతటిని నిత్యస్వాస్థ్యముగా ఇచ్చి వారికి దేవుడనై యుందునని అతనితో చెప్పెను.

Since Abraham was faithful and obedient (విధేయుడిగా) to God, God blessed him and made him a promise in Genesis 22:18. (Through your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed,)

నీవు నా మాట వినినందున భూలోకములోని జనములన్నియు నీ సంతానమువలన ఆశీర్వదించబడును నాతోడని ప్రమాణము చేసియున్నానని యెహోవా సెలవిచ్చెననెను.౹ 

====Through Abraham > Israel====

Eventually – క్రమంగా - from Abraham came the people of Israel with whom God established (ఏర్పాటు) his covenant with. He adopted (దత్తత) Israel, so that they would be God’s people. He gave them a land Canaan. They were in Gods place. And they were under his rule (The Law). Again we have God’s people, in God’s place, under God’s rule.

However when you read the history of Israel, you will read over and over again, it’s a sad history. After reading The Books of Kings and Samuel, we can notice that, you got this God who loves this people so much, who set his affection (ఆప్యాయత) on the people of Israel and yet over and over and over again they turned away from him and worshiping (ఆరాధన) and serving idols (విగ్రహాలను).

====God's promise to King David====

But there was a time when the Kingdom of Israel reached its zenith (అత్యున్నత) under King David, a man after God’s own heart (అతడు నా యిష్టానుసారుడైన మనుష్యుడు) and God made a promise to David in 2Samuel 7:11-14.

“‘The Lord declares to you that the Lord himself will establish a house for you: When your days are over and you rest with your ancestors, I will raise up your offspring to succeed you, your own flesh and blood, and I will establish his kingdom. He is the one who will build a house for my Name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever. I will be his father, and he will be my son...But my love will never be taken away from him… Your house and your kingdom will endure forever before me; your throne will be established forever.’”

… యెహోవానగు నేను నీకు తెలియజేయు నదేమనగా–నేను నీకు సంతానము కలుగజేయుదును.౹ నీ దినములు సంపూర్ణములగునప్పుడు నీవు నీ పితరులతోకూడ నిద్రించిన తరువాత నీ గర్భములోనుండి వచ్చిన నీ సంతతిని హెచ్చించి, రాజ్యమును అతనికి స్థిరపరచెదను.౹ అతడు నా నామఘనతకొరకు ఒక మందిరమును కట్టించును; అతని రాజ్యసింహాసనమును నేను నిత్యముగా స్థిరపరచెదను;౹ నేనతనికి తండ్రినై యుందును. అతడు నాకు కుమారుడైయుండును; … నీ మట్టుకు నీ సంతానమును నీ రాజ్యమును నిత్యము స్థిరమగును, నీ సింహాసనము నిత్యము స్థిరపరచబడును అనెను.౹

Notice the language in this amazing (అద్భుతమైన) promise (వాగ్దానం). The Lord is saying, from David, from his descendants (వారసులు), there is going to be a person who sits on his throne and the kingdom will be forever.

God made a covenant not only with King David but also with the people of Israel too. He wanted to be a God to the people of Israel (‘You shall be My people, And I will be your God. Jeremiah 30:22.') and wanted the people of Israel to be his people. He commanded them not to have any Gods other than him (Exodus 20:3/34:14). He also commanded them not to get involved with the pagan culture (అన్యమత సంస్కృతి) of the people living in Canaan. Unfortunately the people of Israel rejected (తిరస్కరించి) God and worshiped, served idols. They raised pillars and sacrificial places for the idols. They got involved with the pagan culture (అన్యమత సంస్కృతి) and forgot what God did for them and rebelled (తిరుగుబాటు) against God.

• Hence God’s anger poured (కురిపించింది) over them and they were cursed. 
• The kingdom of Israel was divided (విభజించబడింది). 
• They waged wars against themselves. 
• They were taken as captives (బంధీలను) and slaves (బానిసలు) by the very kingdoms they once defeated. 
• They lived in weeping (ఏడుస్తూనే), darkness (చీకటి) and bondage (బానిసత్వం). Their houses and inheritance were destroyed (ధ్వంసమైంది). 
• The mothers of Israel cried because their children were slain (వధించబడిన) and were taken in chains (గొలుసులు) as slaves (బానిసలు). 
• Because of their rebellious (తిరుగుబాటు) nature against God, their blessings were changed to curse. 
• Their victory changed to defeat. 
• They were ruled by foreigners (విదేశీయులు) in their own land.

Throughout this period, God kept on warning (హెచ్చరిక) them through his Prophets. Not only warning them, but he felt bad for their destruction (విధ్వంసం) and gave them hope about the Future Promised Eternal Kingdom. There was this promise that the Messiah, the anointed (అభిషేకం) one, descendant of David would come who would defeat the enemies of Israel, change the hearts of the people, and will bring in an eternal (శాశ్వత) kingdom included the gentiles (యూదులు కానివారు).

Let us read some of the amazing (అద్భుతమైన) prophesies of the Messiah. These are absolutely fascinating.

This prophecy is about the coming Messiah, the Righteous Branch. “The days are coming,” declares the Lord, “when I will raise up for David a righteous Branch, a King who will reign wisely and do what is just and right in the land. In his days Judah will be saved and Israel will live in safety. This is the name by which he will be called: The Lord Our Righteous Savior.

“So then, the days are coming,” declares the Lord, “when people will no longer say, ‘As surely as the Lord lives, who brought the Israelites up out of Egypt,’ but they will say, ‘As surely as the Lord lives, who brought the descendants of Israel up out of the land of the north and out of all the countries where he had banished them.’ Then they will live in their own land.” - Jeremiah 23:5-8

5 యెహోవా ఈలాగు ఆజ్ఞ ఇచ్చుచున్నాడు–రాబోవు దినములలో నేను దావీదునకు నీతి చిగురును పుట్టించెదను; అతడు రాజై పరిపాలన చేయును, అతడు వివేకముగా నడుచుకొనుచు కార్యము జరిగించును, భూమిమీద నీతి న్యాయములను జరిగించును.౹ 6 అతని దినములలో యూదా రక్షణనొందును, ఇశ్రాయేలు నిర్భయముగా నివసించును, యెహోవా మనకు నీతియని అతనికి పేరు పెట్టుదురు.౹ 

7 కాబట్టి రాబోవు దినములలో జనులు ఇశ్రాయేలీయులను ఐగుప్తు దేశములోనుండి రప్పించిన యెహోవా జీవము తోడని యిక ప్రమాణముచేయక 8 ఉత్తర దేశములోనుండియు, నేను వారిని చెదరగొట్టిన దేశములన్నిటిలోనుండియు వారిని రప్పించిన యెహోవానగు నాతోడని ప్రమాణము చేతురని యెహోవా సెలవిచ్చుచున్నాడు; మరియు వారు తమ దేశములో నివసింతురు.

This prophecy is about the Birth and Reign of the Prince of Peace. For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this. - Isaiah 9:6-7

6 ఏలయనగా మనకు శిశువు పుట్టెను - మనకు కుమారుడు అనుగ్రహింపబడెను - ఆయన భుజముమీద రాజ్యభారముండును.

ఆశ్చర్యకరుడు ఆలోచనకర్త బలవంతుడైన దేవుడు - నిత్యుడగు తండ్రి సమాధానకర్తయగు అధిపతి అని అతనికి పేరు పెట్టబడును.

7 ఇది మొదలుకొని మితిలేకుండ దానికి వృద్ధియు క్షేమమును కలుగునట్లు - సర్వకాలము దావీదు సింహాసనమును రాజ్యమును నియమించును

న్యాయమువలనను నీతివలనను రాజ్యమును స్థిరపరచుటకు - అతడు సింహాసనాసీనుడై రాజ్యపరిపాలన చేయును. సైన్యములకధిపతియగు యెహోవా ఆసక్తికలిగి దీనిని నెరవేర్చును.

Along with the prophecies of hope that, the Messiah would be from the lineage (వంశం) of King David and establish (ఏర్పాటు) his Eternal Kingdom, there were also prophecies pointing towards the birth of the Messiah.

• When the kingdom of Judah was to be attacked by their enemies, Isaiah delivers God’s message of hope. 
• The enemies were at the gates on Judah. 
• The hearts of the King and his people were shaken, as the trees of the forest are shaken by the wind. 
• The Lord says "Be careful, keep calm and don’t be afraid. Do not lose heart..."
• భద్రముసుమీ, నిమ్మళించుము; …జడియకుము, నీ గుండె అవియ నీయకుము.

Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Listen carefully, the virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and she will call his name Immanuel (God with us). - Isaiah 7:14.

14 కాబట్టి ప్రభువు తానే యొక సూచన మీకు చూపును. ఆలకించుడి, కన్యక గర్భవతియై కుమారుని కని అతనికి ఇమ్మానుయేలను (7:14 అనగా, దేవుడు మనకు తోడైయున్నాడు.) పేరు పెట్టును.౹

• This was the time when people of Israel and Judah stood as an enemy to God. 
• Rich oppressed the poor. 
• The heads and rulers of Israel/Judah despised and rejected justice. 
• God passed the judgement of Israel/Judah’s destruction. 
• God would execute his vengeance on Israel/Judah. Amid of all this, God sends his message of hope through Micah. A Ruler in Israel shall come and bring peace.

The Lord says, “Bethlehem Ephrathah, you are one of the smallest towns in Judah, but out of you I will bring a ruler for Israel, whose family line goes back to ancient times.”- Micah 5:2

2 బేత్లెహేము ఎఫ్రాతా, యూదావారి కుటుంబములలో నీవు స్వల్పగ్రామమైనను నాకొరకు ఇశ్రాయేలీయులను ఏలబోవువాడు నీలోనుండి వచ్చును; పురాతన కాలము మొదలుకొని శాశ్వతకాలము ఆయన ప్రత్యక్ష మగుచుండెను.౹

When the Jews were slain, chained and taken as slaves to the Babylon, the mothers wept and mourned for their children. It was said then, Thus says the Lord: “A voice is heard in Ramah, lamentation and bitter weeping. Rachel is weeping for her children; she refuses to be comforted for her children, because they are no more.” – Jeremiah 31:15.

యెహోవా ఈలాగు సెలవిచ్చుచున్నాడు – ఆలకించుడి, రామాలో అంగలార్పును మహా రోదనధ్వనియు వినబడుచున్నవి; రాహేలు తన పిల్లలనుగూర్చి యేడ్చు చున్నది; ఆమె పిల్లలు లేకపోయినందున ఆమె వారిని గూర్చి ఓదార్పు పొందనొల్లకున్నది.౹

And when God was expressing his love for his rebellious people of Israel, God remembered from where he called out Israel. The LORD days “When Israel was a child, I loved him, and out of Egypt I called my son.” Hosea 11:1.

ఇశ్రాయేలు బాలుడైయుండగా నేను అతనియెడల ప్రేమగలిగి నా కుమారుని ఐగుప్తుదేశములోనుండి పిలిచితిని.౹

So the period of Old Testament closed with this message of the Promised Kingdom, with this arriving King. And there were two main theme’s in the prophecies.

First the King would suffer: 

1. He would be a Suffering Servant. (Isaiah 53 and the Suffering Servant)

Secondly he would defeat the enemies and setup this eternal kingdom:

1. Jeremiah 30:7-10  -  [Freedom from Captivity Promised]
2. Jeremiah 33:14-18  -  [The Davidic Kingdom]

Now the prophets were not sure how were things going to happen, to Suffer and to set up the Eternal (నిత్యమైన) Kingdom. But they believed that the Promised Messiah would fulfill (నెఱవేర్చు) the prophecies.

Between the Old and New Testament, there was a prophetic silence for 400 years. Generations (తరాల) came and generations went. In that time two empires (సామ్రాజ్యాలు) arose. The Greeks, Alexander the great conquered the then known world. And then the Romans came in and conquered. So by the time Jesus was given birth to, Israel was an occupied territory. They were under the hands of Romans, ruled by King Herod.

So you got to imagine (ఊహించే), being a Jew in the 1st century, you got to be expecting (ఎదురుచూచే) the Promised Messiah. You should be expecting that this righteous branch (నీతి చిగురును), the promised one, the promised Messiah, this child is going to be born.

The Bible says, when the set time had fully come, God sent his Son, made in human likeness (మానవ పోలిక / మనుష్యుల పోలికగా), who as to his earthly life was a descendant of David (శరీరమునుబట్టి దావీదు సంతానముగాను). (Gal 4:4, Rom 1:1-4, Phil 2:6-7). This is the advent of the Messiah spoken of the Lord by the prophet.

4-5 అయితే కాలము పరిపూర్ణమైనప్పుడు దేవుడు తన కుమారుని పంపెను; ఆయన స్త్రీయందు పుట్టి… Gal 4:4

Hence based on the prophecies, Mathew was trying to convince (గట్టిగా నమ్మకం కలిగించు / ఒప్పించు) the people that Jesus is the Messiah and the righteous branch. Matthew starts his gospel, with confirming that Jesus is the Christ and then submitting the genealogical proof (వంశావళి రుజువు). Matthew is saying that Jesus isn’t a figment (కట్టుకథ / కల్పన) of people’s imagination. But Jesus is literally, really a descendant of David and Abraham. Jesus fulfilled (నెరవేరింది) those promises of the coming one who had to be a descendant of David. As per the prophecy, the Messiah had to be from David’s lineage.

Now for us that’s not really a big proof, because we don’t care about genealogies at all. But for Jews, genealogies were very significant (ముఖ్యమైన). Genealogy (వంశవృక్షం) shows which tribe (తెగ) you are from and which land belongs to you. Genealogy showed your identity (గుర్తింపు). Your identity was wrapped up in your tribe. They had very definite (ఖచ్చితమైన) genealogies. So this genealogy isn’t something made up by Mathew. This one he takes out of the Old Testament and the last part of the genealogy must have been taken from some records around that time. Now this shows that Jesus is not some mystical (ఆధ్యాత్మిక) character but a real historical (చారిత్రక) character (పాత్ర).

For every incident (సంఘటన) in Jesus’s life, Matthew keep connecting us to the prophecies spoken by the prophets in the O.T, hence he keeps using this phrase “Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet”.  “ప్రభువు తన ప్రవక్తద్వారా పలికిన మాట నెరవేరునట్లు ఇదంతయు జరిగెను.”

Jesus birth was a virgin birth, which was spoken few hundred years back by the Prophet Isaiah (7:14). Mary gave birth to Jesus in Bethlehem, which was spoken by Micah (5:2). When Herod had all the baby boys of two years old and under killed in Bethlehem, that pain and cry of the mothers was spoken by Jeremiah (31:15). And just like God called his firstborn son, Israel out of Egypt, God called his son Jesus out of Egypt too, which was spoken by Hosea (11:1). And so on…. His crucifixion was also as per the prophecy spoken by prophet Isaiah 53. He had to be a Suffering Servant. Jesus is the Messiah, whom the prophets were talking about. It’s only through Jesus, all the prophecies were fulfilled.

Now what do you think the Jew’s would be thinking? There is a question that any good Jew would be asking. In fact based on the prophecies, anyone would have this question.

• If Jesus would be the Messiah. If he is this Promised Branch (నీతి చిగురును), then why is he not on David Throne in Jerusalem?
• Why didn’t he setup the Kingdom?
• Why aren’t we in the eternal (శాశ్వత) Kingdom?
• Why are we still under the power (అధికారం) of Romans?

==Kingdom of God / Kingdom of Heaven==

While Jesus is the Promised (వాగ్దానం) Messiah, the Anointed (అభిషేకం) One and the King who will reign (పాలన) forever and bring peace, his kingdom is not of this world. His kingdom is from another place (John 18:36).

యేసు–నా రాజ్యము ఈ లోకసంబంధమైనది కాదు; … నా రాజ్యము ఇహసంబంధమైనది కాదనెను.

It is yet to come. Jesus did come and offered the Kingdom to Israel and to us. He went around the towns of Israel, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom. “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.” (Matt 4:17 / Mark 1:15 / Matthew 10:7).

యేసు పర లోక రాజ్యము సమీపించియున్నది గనుక మారుమనస్సు పొందుడని చెప్పుచు ప్రకటింప మొదలు పెట్టెను.

యేసు 15–కాలము సంపూర్ణమైయున్నది, దేవునిరాజ్యము సమీపించియున్నది; మారుమనస్సు పొంది సువార్త నమ్ముడని చెప్పుచు దేవుని సువార్త ప్రకటించుచు, గలిలయకు వచ్చెను.

5యేసు ఆ పండ్రెండుమందిని పంపుచు, వారినిచూచి వారికాజ్ఞాపించినదేమనగా మీరు … నశించిన గొఱ్ఱెల యొద్దకే వెళ్లుడి. 7 వెళ్లుచు పరలోకరాజ్యము సమీపించియున్నదని ప్రకటించుడి.

What is the good news? “I am the King. I am going to bring Gods Kingdom”. But instead of receiving Jesus, what did the Jews do? The Jews rejected (తిరస్కరించింది) him. Killed him. They killed their Messiah.

Jesus in fact when he came into Jerusalem in Matt 23:37  he said “Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were not willing.”

37 యెరూషలేమా, యెరూషలేమా, ప్రవక్తలను చంపుచును నీయొద్దకు పంపబడినవారిని రాళ్లతో కొట్టుచునుఉండు దానా, కోడి తన పిల్లలను రెక్కలక్రింది కేలాగు చేర్చు కొనునో ఆలాగే నేనును నీ పిల్లలను ఎన్నోమారులు చేర్చు కొనవలెనని యుంటిని గాని మీరు ఒల్లకపోతిరి.

• Jesus was crucified and buried. 
• This was all part of Gods plan because remember, the prophecy says, Messiah must be a Suffering Servant. 
• So Jesus came and died on the cross for our sins but God raised him from the dead. 

But God raised him from the dead, freeing him from the agony of death, because it was impossible for death to keep its hold on him. Acts 2:24

మరణము ఆయనను బంధించి యుంచుట అసాధ్యము గనుక దేవుడు మరణవేదనలు తొలగించి ఆయనను లేపెను.

Christ died for our sins; he was buried and was raised to life on the third day, as the Scriptures say (1 Cor 15:3-4). After his resurrection, Jesus presented himself to the apostles he had chosen and gave many convincing proofs that he was alive (అనేక ప్రమాణములను1:3 లేక, రుజువులను. చూపి వారికి తన్నుతాను సజీవునిగా కనుపరచుకొనెను.౹). He appeared to them over a period of forty days and spoke about the kingdom of God (దేవుని రాజ్యవిషయములనుగూర్చి బోధించుచు) (Acts 1:3). Paul says that the resurrected Jesus appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers and sisters. (1 Corinthians 15:6). అటుపిమ్మట ఐదు వందలకు ఎక్కువైన సహోదరులకు ఒక్కసమయమందే కనబడెను.

While Jesus was here on earth, before he was crucified, he proclaimed that the Son of Man is going to come in his Father’s glory with his angels, the Son of Man coming in his kingdom. All the nations of the earth will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky, with power and great glory. (Matthew 16:27-28; 24:30-31).

మనుష్యకుమారుడు తన తండ్రి మహిమ గలవాడై తన దూతలతోకూడ రాబోవుచున్నాడు...మనుష్యకుమారుడు తన రాజ్యముతో వచ్చుట...ప్రజలు చూస్తారు

అప్పుడు మనుష్యకుమారుని సూచన ఆకాశమందు కనబడును. అప్పుడు మనుష్యకుమారుడు ప్రభావముతోను మహా మహిమతోను ఆకాశ మేఘారూఢుడై వచ్చుట చూచి, భూమిమీదనున్న సకల గోత్రములవారు రొమ్ము కొట్టుకొందురు. మరియు ఆయన గొప్ప బూరతో తన దూతలను పంపును. వారు ఆకాశముయొక్క ఈ చివరనుండి ఆ చివరవరకు నలుదిక్కులనుండి ఆయన ఏర్పరచుకొనినవారిని పోగుచేతురు.

• Now based on the prophecies in the Old and New Testament, 
• Jesus is the Messiah who will establish his Eternal Kingdom. 

• But in order to make us part of his kingdom, 
• he had to deal with our sins first. 

• Hence he came to this world, 
• took all our sins upon his shoulders, 
• died on the cross as a sacrifice for our sins 
• and God raised him on the third day 
• and Jesus ascended to heaven. 

• He had to be a Suffering Servant. 
• This is the First Advent.

Jesus promised us that he will be coming again, to establish his kingdom, which is the future. Jesus said “…I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also” (John 14:1-3). "…this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven." (Acts 1:9-11). 

నా తండ్రి యింట అనేక నివాసములు కలవు, లేనియెడల మీతో చెప్పుదును; మీకు స్థలము సిద్ధపరచ వెళ్లుచున్నాను.౹ 3 నేను వెళ్లి మీకు స్థలము సిద్ధపరచినయెడల నేనుండు స్థలములో మీరునుఉండు లాగున మరల వచ్చి నాయొద్ద నుండుటకు మిమ్మును తీసి కొని పోవుదును. John 14:2-3

గలిలయ మనుష్యులారా, మీరెందుకు నిలిచి ఆకాశమువైపు చూచుచున్నారు? మీయొద్దనుండి పరలోకమునకు చేర్చుకొన బడిన యీ యేసే, ఏ రీతిగా పరలోకమునకు వెళ్లుట మీరు చూచితిరో ఆ రీతిగానే ఆయన తిరిగి వచ్చునని వారితో చెప్పిరి. Acts 1:9-11.

This is the Second Advent. It is going to be as glorious (అద్భుతమైన / దివ్యమైన) as the first one.

Based on what we discussed, we understand that the prophecies were talking about the First and the Second Advent. For us the First Advent happened 2000 years back, hence the reason we are here celebrating its occasion. Though the Jews were eagerly waiting for the First Advent, it did not happen the way they expected, because they were not spiritually ready to receive it. Their thoughts and expectations were of this world.

The LORD declares “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways And My thoughts higher than your thoughts." (Isaiah 55:8-9)

నా తలంపులు మీ తలంపులవంటిని కావు - మీ త్రోవలు నా త్రోవలవంటిని కావు - ఇదే యెహోవా వాక్కు. ఆకాశములు భూమికిపైన ఎంత యెత్తుగా ఉన్నవో - మీ మార్గములకంటె నా మార్గములు - మీ తలంపులకంటె నా తలంపులు అంత యెత్తుగా ఉన్నవి.

• The Second Advent is in future. 
• How ready are we to face the Second Coming? 
• While we celebrate the First Advent of the Messiah, it’s time for us to analyze how ready we are for the Second Advent. 
• Are we eagerly waiting for the Second Advent, as the Jews were waiting for the First Advent? 
• Are we spiritually ready to face Jesus in the Second Advent?

==How to get ready for the Second Advent==

A Servant waiting for his Master:
“Be ready! Be fully dressed and have your lights shining. Be like servants who are waiting for their master to come home from a wedding party. The master comes and knocks, and the servants immediately open the door for him. When their master sees that they are ready and waiting for him, it will be a great day for those servants. I can tell you without a doubt, the master will get himself ready to serve a meal and tell the servants to sit down. Then he will serve them. Those servants might have to wait until midnight or later for their master. But they will be glad they did when he comes in and finds them still waiting.

“What would a homeowner do if he knew when a thief was coming? You know he would not let the thief break in. So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at a time when you don’t expect him!” - Luke 12:35-40

35 మీ నడుములు కట్టుకొనియుండుడి, మీ దీపములు వెలుగుచుండనియ్యుడి. 36 తమ ప్రభువు పెండ్లివిందునుండి వచ్చి తట్టగానే అతనికి తలుపుతీయుటకు అతడెప్పుడు వచ్చునో అని అతనికొరకు ఎదురు చూచు మనుష్యులవలె ఉండుడి. 37 ప్రభువు వచ్చి యే దాసులు మెలకువగా ఉండుట కనుగొనునో ఆ దాసులు ధన్యులు; అతడు నడుము కట్టుకొని వారిని భోజన పంక్తిని కూర్చుండబెట్టి, తానే వచ్చి వారికి ఉపచారము చేయునని మీతో నిశ్చయముగా చెప్పుచున్నాను. 38 మరియు అతడు రెండవ జామున వచ్చినను మూడవ జామున వచ్చినను (ఏ దాసులు) మెలకువగా ఉండుట కనుగొనునో ఆ దాసులు ధన్యులు.

Parable of Ten Virgins:
“At that time God’s kingdom will be like ten girls who went to wait for the bridegroom. They took their lamps with them. Five of the girls were foolish, and five were wise. The foolish girls took their lamps with them, but they did not take extra oil for the lamps. The wise girls took their lamps and more oil in jars. When the bridegroom was very late, the girls could not keep their eyes open, and they all fell asleep.

“At midnight someone announced, ‘The bridegroom is coming! Come and meet him!’ “Then all the girls woke up. They made their lamps ready. But the foolish girls said to the wise girls, ‘Give us some of your oil. The oil in our lamps is all gone.’ “The wise girls answered, ‘No! The oil we have might not be enough for all of us. But go to those who sell oil and buy some for yourselves.’ “So the foolish girls went to buy oil. While they were gone, the bridegroom came. The girls who were ready went in with the bridegroom to the wedding feast. Then the door was closed and locked. “Later, the other girls came. They said, ‘Sir, sir! Open the door to let us in.’ “But the bridegroom answered, ‘Certainly not! I don’t even know you.’ “So always be ready. You don’t know the day or the time when the Son of Man will come. – Matthew 25:1-13

1 పరలోకరాజ్యము, తమ దివిటీలు పట్టుకొని పెండ్లికుమారుని ఎదుర్కొనుటకు బయలుదేరిన పదిమంది కన్య కలను పోలియున్నది. 2 వీరిలో అయిదుగురు బుద్ధిలేని వారు, అయిదుగురు బుద్ధిగలవారు. 3 బుద్ధి లేనివారు తమ దివిటీలు పట్టుకొని తమతోకూడ నూనె తీసికొనిపోలేదు. 4 బుద్ధిగలవారు తమ దివిటీలతోకూడ సిద్దెలలో నూనె తీసి కొనిపోయిరి. 5 పెండ్లికుమారుడు ఆలస్యము చేయగా వారందరు కునికి నిద్రించుచుండిరి. 

6 అర్ధరాత్రివేళ– ఇదిగో పెండ్లికుమారుడు, అతనిని ఎదుర్కొన రండి అను కేక వినబడెను. 7 అప్పుడు ఆ కన్యకలందరు లేచి తమ దివిటీలను చక్కపరచిరి గాని 8 బుద్ధిలేని ఆ కన్యకలు– మా దివిటీలు ఆరిపోవుచున్నవి గనుక మీ నూనెలో కొంచెము మాకియ్యుడని బుద్ధిగలవారినడిగిరి. 9 అందుకు బుద్ధిగల కన్యకలు మాకును మీకును ఇది చాలదేమో, మీరు అమ్మువారియొద్దకు పోయి కొనుక్కొనుడని చెప్పిరి. 10 వారు కొనబోవుచుండగా పెండ్లికుమారుడు వచ్చెను, అప్పుడు సిద్ధపడి యున్నవారు అతనితోకూడ పెండ్లి విందుకు లోపలికి పోయిరి; 11 అంతట తలుపు వేయబడెను. 

ఆ తరువాత తక్కిన కన్యకలు వచ్చి–అయ్యా, అయ్యా, మాకు తలుపు తీయుమని అడుగగా 12 అతడు–మిమ్ము నెరుగనని మీతో నిశ్చయముగా చెప్పుచున్నాననెను. 13 ఆ దినమైనను గడియయైనను మీకు తెలియదు గనుక మెలకువగా ఉండుడి. Matthew 12:1-13

The Time of Noah:
The coming of the Son of Man will be like what happened in the time of Noah. In the days before the flood people ate and drank, men and women married, up to the very day Noah went into the boat; yet they did not realize what was happening until the flood came and swept them all away. That is how it will be when the Son of Man comes. - Matthew 24:37-39.

37 నోవహు దినములు ఏలాగుండెనో మనుష్యకుమారుని రాకడయును ఆలాగే ఉండును. 38 జలప్రళయమునకు ముందటి దినములలో నోవహు ఓడలోనికి వెళ్లిన దినమువరకు, వారు తినుచు త్రాగుచు పెండ్లిచేసికొనుచు పెండ్లికిచ్చుచునుండి 39 జలప్రళయమువచ్చి అందరిని కొట్టుకొనిపోవువరకు ఎరుగక పోయిరి; ఆలాగుననే మనుష్యకుమారుని రాకడ ఉండును.

A day will come when they will look at Jesus, the Messiah whom they have pierced and ignored; and they will mourn for Him as one mourns for an only son, and they will weep bitterly over Him as one who weeps bitterly over a firstborn. In that day there shall be a great mourning in this world.

And if you ask when is the Second Advent going to happen. 

“No one knows when that day or time will be. The Son and the angels in heaven don’t know when it will be. Only the Father knows.” (Matthew 24:36).

అయితే ఆ దినమునుగూర్చియు ఆ గడియనుగూర్చియు తండ్రి మాత్రమే (యెరుగును) గాని, యే మనుష్యుడైనను పరలోకమందలి దూతలైనను కుమారుడైనను ఎరుగరు.

The apostles had the same question; The apostles were all together. They asked Jesus, “Lord, is this the time for you to give the people of Israel their kingdom again?” Jesus said to them, “The Father is the only one who has the authority to decide dates and times. They are not for you to know. But the Holy Spirit will come on you and give you power. You will be my witnesses…” (Acts 1:6-7).

కాబట్టి వారు కూడివచ్చినప్పుడు–ప్రభువా, యీ కాలమందు ఇశ్రాయేలునకు రాజ్యమును మరల అనుగ్రహించెదవా? అని ఆయనను అడుగగా ఆయన౹ కాలములను సమయములను తండ్రి తన స్వాధీనమందుంచుకొని యున్నాడు; వాటిని తెలిసికొనుట మీ పనికాదు.౹

You...must always be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you are not expecting him. (Matthew 24:44)

మీరనుకొనని గడియలో మనుష్యకుమారుడు వచ్చును గనుకనే మీరును సిద్ధముగా ఉండుడి.

Basically we are asking the wrong question. 

Our question should be, how we should be prepared. 

We should be filled with the Holy Spirit which gives us power and be God’s witnesses to the ends of the earth. 

పరిశుద్ధాత్మ - మీరు శక్తినొందెదరు గనుక మీరు భూదిగంతముల వరకును, నాకు సాక్షులైయుందురని 

We need to look and wait for the Second Advent with patience.

Be patient, therefore, brothers, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient about it, until it receives the early and the late rains. You also, be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand. - James 5:7-8.

సహోదరులారా, ప్రభువు రాకడవరకు ఓపిక కలిగి యుండుడి; చూడుడి; వ్యవసాయకుడు తొలకరి వర్షమును కడవరి వర్షమును సమకూడువరకు విలువైన భూఫలము నిమిత్తము ఓపికతో కాచుకొనుచు దానికొరకు కనిపెట్టును గదా౹ ప్రభువురాక సమీపించుచున్నది గనుక మీరును ఓపిక కలిగియుండుడి, మీ హృదయములను స్థిరపరచు కొనుడి.౹

Traditional Advent:

There is this tradition of celebrating Advent season for 4 weeks before Christmas. 

Few churches in the eastern countries, don’t observe the Advent season but they do keep a long fast before Christmas. 

While in the western countries, many churches fast and focus on prayer, which almost looks like a Lenten season.

In some places Advent is called “Little Lent”.

Conclusion: 

If you ask me, I’ll put it this way, 

4 weeks of preparation before the First Advent which already happened (జరిగిన) 

and 

a lifelong (జీవితకాల) of preparation for the Second Advent, which is yet to happen. 

Let us commemorate (జ్ఞాపకార్ధం) this First Advent looking forward to the Second Advent.
