And there shall be no night there; and
they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them
light: and they shall reign for ever and ever. - Revelations 22:5
There are four books in the Bible which
talk about the life of Jesus Christ (యేసు క్రీస్తు జీవితం). We call those books as The Gospels (సువార్త).
Out of which Matthew, Mark and Luke together are known as Synoptic Gospels (సంగ్రహ గ్రంధాలు),
because they include many of the same incidents (అదే సంఘటనలు),
often in a similar sequence (ఇదే క్రమము) and in similar wording (ఇదే విధమైన పదాలు); and two gospels written by Matthew
and Luke narrate (వ్యాఖ్యానం)
us the birth and genealogy (వంశవృక్షాన్ని)
of Jesus Christ. We need to understand that Christmas is not the birth of God (దేవుని పుట్టుక).
It’s not the starting point (ప్రారంభ స్థానం) of his existence (ఉనికి), but Christmas is the day when God
took the form of a man (మనిషి యొక్క రూపం).
Hence I guess John started his gospel with the genealogy and the birth of Jesus
on a different note.

In the beginning was the Word, and the
Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning.
ఆదియందు వాక్యముండెను,
వాక్యము దేవునియొద్ద ఉండెను, వాక్యము దేవుడై యుండెను.౹ ఆయన ఆదియందు దేవునియొద్ద ఉండెను.

Matthew starts with, Jesus being a
descendant of David, who was a descendant of Abraham (Matt 1:1). (అబ్రాహాము కుమారుడగు దావీదు కుమారుడైన యేసు క్రీస్తు).
Luke traces the Lord’s human genealogy (మానవ వంశవృక్షం)
back to Adam (Luke 3:38). But John
traces the Lord’s genealogy way back to “the beginning” (John 1:1). John is purposely (ఉద్దేశపూర్వకంగా)
recalling (గుర్తుచేసే)
the words of Genesis 1:1 here to let us know that the Lord’s origins (దేవుని మూలాలు)
go back to eternity past (శాశ్వతత్వం గత). He is the “Alpha and Omega” (Rev.1:8; 1:11; 21:6; 22:13), the first
and last letters of the Greek alphabet. In other words, He was there in the beginning,
and He’ll be there at the end and for everlasting (నిత్యమైన).

Moses
mentions that, even before the mountains were born and
even before the earth and the world were created, God existed from everlasting
to everlasting (Psalm 90:2).
ప్రభువా,
తరతరములనుండి
- మాకు నివాసస్థలము నీవే. పర్వతములు పుట్టకమునుపు
- భూమిని లోకమును నీవు పుట్టింపకమునుపు
- యుగయుగములు నీవే దేవుడవు.
The Lord is from ancient times (Micah 5:2).
పురాతన కాలము మొదలుకొని శాశ్వతకాలము ఆయన ప్రత్యక్ష మగుచుండెను.
He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together (Colossians 1:17).
ఆయన అన్నిటికంటె ముందుగా ఉన్నవాడు;
ఆయనే సమస్తమునకు ఆధారభూతుడు.౹
Hence John says “Through him God made all things; not one thing in all creation was made without him.”
సమస్తమును ఆయన మూలముగా కలిగెను,౹ కలిగియున్నదేదియు ఆయనలేకుండ కలుగలేదు.౹
He was filled with glory of the presence of God, even before the world began (John 17:5).
తండ్రీ,
లోకము పుట్టకమునుపు నీయొద్ద నాకు ఏ మహిమయుండెనో ఆ మహిమతో నన్ను ఇప్పుడు నీయొద్ద మహిమ పరచుము.౹
(In this “beginning” there already “was” the Word. (See expressions of this thought in John 17:5; Proverbs 8:23; 1John 1:1; Revelation 3:14.))

- So God’s existence (జీవనం) did not start on the Christmas day, but way long before that (చాలా కాలం ముందు).
- He is the source of life (జీవితం యొక్క మూలం - ఆయనలో జీవముండెను) and
- from him flows the fountain of life (ఆయన యొద్ద జీవపు ఊట కలదు) (Psalm 36:9).
- Jesus says “I am the way, the truth, and the life: యేసు –నేనే మార్గమును, సత్యమును, జీవమును; (John 14:6)”
- He is the resurrection and the life. యేసు–పునరుత్థానమును జీవమును నేనే (John 11:25).
- He rewards his people with long life - దీర్ఘాయువు చేత అతనిని తృప్తిపరచెదను (Psalm 91:16) and
- King David says - his promises give life - నీ వాక్యము నన్ను బ్రదికించియున్నది (Psalm 119:50).
- The words he speak are life. నేను మీతో చెప్పియున్న మాటలు ఆత్మయు జీవమునైయున్నవి (John 6:63).
- In him is everlasting life (నిత్యజీవము) (John 3:16) (1 John 2:25- నిత్యజీవము అనుగ్రహింతు ననునదియే ఆయన తానే మనకు చేసిన వాగ్దానము).
- This is what God told us: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son - దేవుడు మనకు నిత్య జీవమును దయచేసెను; ఈ జీవము ఆయన కుమారునియందున్నది (1 John 5:11) and
- that life brought light to people - ఆ జీవము మనుష్యులకు వెలుగైయుండెను.
- The light shined in the darkness but the darkness did not understand it - ఆ వెలుగు చీకటిలో ప్రకాశించుచున్నది గాని చీకటి దాని గ్రహింపకుండెను.

Before we try to understand what kind
of light was brought to people, we need to understand what kind of darkness (చీకటి) John is talking about. In the
beginning when God created the universe (విశ్వము),
the earth (భూమి)
was covered with darkness (చీకటి కమ్మియుండెను).
Then God commanded, “Let there be light”—and light appeared (దేవుడు–వెలుగు కమ్మని పలుకగా వెలుగు కలిగెను).
God also made great lights like the Sun, Moon and the Stars in sky to give
light on the earth - భూమిమీద వెలుగిచ్చుటకు గొప్ప జ్యోతులను ఆకాశ విశాలమందు జ్యోతులై యుండు గాకనియు పలికెను;
ఆప్రకారమాయెను.
This was done in order to separate light from darkness - దేవుడు వెలుగును చీకటిని వేరుపరచెను.
Strangely, man also wanted to separate light from darkness and out of that, man
discovered fire (అగ్ని
/ నిప్పు),
another form of light, to light up his nights and the darkness. It was not
until 1879 when the electric light bulb (విద్యుత్ కాంతి బల్బ్)
was invented (కనిపెట్టాడు)
and our world (మన ప్రపంచం)
has been brighter (ప్రకాశవంతంగా)
ever since. But when John said “He is the source of life and that life brought
light to people” what is this kind of light is he talking about?
========
After Man was created by God, lured (శోధన) by Satan, Man chose (ఎంచుకున్నాడు)
to break Gods commandment. From then, sin entered Man’s life and made his heart
dark. Darkness is the symbol (గుర్తు)
of sin and the power of Satan (Acts
26:18).
Ever since God created the world, his
eternal power and divine nature had been perceived in the things that God has
made. Man knows God, but they do not give him the honor that belongs to him,
nor do they thank him. Instead, their thoughts have become complete nonsense,
and their empty minds are filled with darkness (they worship and serve what God
has created instead of the Creator himself) (Romans 1:20-21).
ఆయన అదృశ్యలక్షణములు,
అనగా ఆయన నిత్యశక్తియు దేవత్వమును,
జగదుత్పత్తి మొదలుకొని సృష్టింపబడిన వస్తువులను ఆలోచించుటవలన తేటపడుచున్నవి గనుక వారు నిరుత్తరులై యున్నారు.౹ మరియు వారు దేవుని నెరిగియు ఆయనను దేవునిగా మహిమపరచ లేదు, కృతజ్ఞతాస్తుతులు చెల్లింపనులేదు గాని తమ వాదములయందు వ్యర్థులైరి.
౹ వారి అవివేకహృదయము అంధ కారమయమాయెను;...
- Out of the darkness we did what not.
- We revolted (తిరుగుబాటు) against our Creator (సృష్టికర్త).
- We broke the covenant (నిబంధన) we had with God.
- Out of our hearts came unfruitful deeds of darkness.
- Our sinful thoughts, sight, deeds and sinful path filled our hearts and spiritual bodies with darkness. (Ref Luke 11:34).
- We chose the way of the wicked (చెడ్డ), which is like deep darkness and did not know over what we stumbled (తడబడుతుంది) (Proverbs 4:19).
The Lord saw that the
wickedness (depravity) of man was great on the earth, and that every
imagination or intent of the thoughts of his heart were only evil continually.
The Lord regretted that He had made mankind on the earth, and He was [deeply]
grieved in His heart. - Gen 6:5-7.
నరుల చెడు తనము భూమిమీద గొప్పదనియు, వారి హృదయముయొక్క తలంపులలోని ఊహ అంతయు ఎల్లప్పుడు కేవలము చెడ్డదనియు యెహోవా చూచి, తాను భూమిమీద నరులను చేసినందుకు యెహోవా సంతాపము నొంది తన హృదయములో నొచ్చుకొనెను.౹ ... నేను వారిని సృష్టించినందుకు సంతాపము నొందియున్నాననెను.౹
God looked on the earth,
and behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted their way upon the
earth. - Genesis 6:12.
దేవుడు భూలోకమును చూచినప్పుడు అది చెడిపోయి యుండెను; భూమిమీద సమస్త శరీరులు తమ మార్గమును చెరిపివేసుకొని యుండిరి.
For from within, out
of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications,
murders... - Mark 7:21-23.
మనుష్యుని లోపలినుండి బయలు వెళ్లునది మనుష్యుని అపవిత్రపరచును. లోపలినుండి, అనగా మనుష్యుల హృదయములోనుండి దురాలోచనలును జారత్వములును దొంగతనములును నరహత్యలును వ్యభిచారములును లోభములును చెడుతనములును కృత్రిమమును కామవికారమును మత్సరమును (7:22 మూలభాషలో–చెడ్డకండ్లును) దేవదూషణయు అహంభావమును అవివేకమును వచ్చును. ఈ చెడ్డ వన్నియు లోపలినుండియే బయలువెళ్లి, మనుష్యుని అపవిత్రపరచునని ఆయన చెప్పెను.
- We served the god of this world - ఈ యుగ సంబంధమైన దేవత (Satan) with our worthless (విలువ / పని చెయ్యని) and unproductive (ఫలితమివ్వని) deeds.
- Our eyes were blinded and our spiritual darkness made us slaves and prisoners in misery (కష్టాలు) and chains (గొలుసులు).
- When the Creator looked at the earth, it was a barren waste and at the sky, there was no light (Jeremiah 4:23) నేను భూమిని చూడగా అది నిరాకారముగాను శూన్యముగాను ఉండెను; ఆకాశముతట్టు చూడగా అచ్చట వెలుగులేకపోయెను.౹.
Because of the ignorance (అజ్ఞానం)
and spiritual blindness (ఆధ్యాత్మిక అంధత్వం)
that is within us and because of the hardness (కాఠిన్యం)
and insensitivity of our heart, our moral (నైతిక)
understanding was darkened (అంధకారములో)
and our reasoning was clouded; we have alienated and have self –banished (బహిష్కరించడం)
ourselves from the life of God (Eph
4:17-18). We were cursed and our lands were filled with darkness and deep
shadow of death.
- It is not a glorious (అద్భుతమైన) picture.
- Though we physically (భౌతికంగా) stand up straight firm as if nothing is wrong with us, spiritually (ఆధ్యాత్మికంగా) we are chained (సంకెళ్లు) to an iron ball/stone called sin, kept in a dark dungeon (చీకటి గుహ) where not a single ray of light (కాంతి కిరణాలు) can penetrate.
- Because of our sins, we spiritually stink (ఆధ్యాత్మికంగా దుర్వాసన చెందుతుంది) and are unclean (అపరిశుభ్రమైన) like a leper (కుష్టు).
- The Bible says “…everyone who commits sin is the slave of sin…” యేసు–పాపముచేయు ప్రతివాడును పాపమునకు దాసుడని మీతో నిశ్చయముగా చెప్పుచున్నాను.౹
- (John 8:34) and as long as we sin, we are subjected to the yoke of slavery (దాస్యమను కాడిక్రింద) (Gal 5:1).
Now! Who is going to save us from this
spiritual darkness (ఆధ్యాత్మిక చీకటి / అంధత్వం)?
Well! We have the greater lights (గొప్ప జ్యోతులను)
in the sky which are the sun, moon and the stars. Though they illuminate (ప్రకాశించే)
a great amount of light (గొప్ప కాంతి) and brightness (గొప్ప ప్రకాశవంతమైన)
to earth, unfortunately (దురదృష్టవశాత్తు)
these great lights would not be able to help us with our deep spiritual
darkness (ఆధ్యాత్మిక చీకటి / అంధత్వం),
because one day, the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not provide its
light, and the stars will fall from the sky - చీకటి సూర్యుని కమ్మును,
చంద్రుడు కాంతిని ఇయ్యడు, ఆకాశమునుండి నక్షత్రములు రాలును… (Matt
24:29 / Acts 2:20). What about the electric bulbs (విద్యుత్ కాంతి బల్బ్)
we invented? What about these flood lights around us? Would these lights helps
us with the spiritual darkness (ఆధ్యాత్మిక చీకటి / అంధత్వం)
in our hearts? These lights would physically help us not to stumble, but not
with our spiritual stumbleness. None of the different form of lights we know,
is going to save from the spiritual darkness we are enslaved (బానిసలుగా)
to.
That
was when God, who was the source of life (జీవితం యొక్క మూలం - ఆయనలో జీవముండెను)
brought light to man through Jesus, the Messiah. Though we did not give him the
honor (గౌరవం) he deserves (అర్హత), he still remembered us. He promised
us through the prophets that he would save us.
“I will lead the blind by ways they
have not known, along unfamiliar paths I will guide them; I will turn the darkness into light
before them and make the rough places smooth. These are the things I will do; I will
not forsake them.” Isaiah 42:16
వారెరుగనిమార్గమున గ్రుడ్డివారిని తీసికొని వచ్చెదను
- వారెరుగని త్రోవలలో వారిని నడిపింతును. వారి యెదుట చీకటిని వెలుగుగాను వంకర త్రోవలను చక్కగాను చేయుదును. నేను వారిని విడువక యీ కార్యములు చేయుదును.

The
promised Messiah would shine upon us who sit in darkness and in the shadow of
death, to guide our feet into the way of peace and serenity (Luke
1:79).
మన పాదములను సమాధాన మార్గములోనికి నడిపించునట్లు చీకటిలోను మరణచ్ఛాయలోను,
కూర్చుండువారికి వెలుగిచ్చుటకై ఆ మహా వాత్సల్యమునుబట్టి పైనుండి ఆయన మనకు అరుణోదయ దర్శన మనుగ్రహించెను.
He
is light and in Him there is no darkness at all (1 John 1:5-6).
దేవుడు వెలుగై యున్నాడు;
ఆయనయందు చీకటి ఎంతమాత్రమును లేదు.
Jesus
said "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows Me will never walk in
the darkness, but will have the light of life." (John 8:12).
యేసు–నేను లోకమునకు వెలుగును,
నన్ను వెంబడించువాడు చీకటిలో నడువక జీవపు వెలుగుగలిగి యుండునని వారితో చెప్పెను.౹
Jesus
came into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in Him should
remain in darkness (John 12:46).
నాయందు విశ్వాసముంచు ప్రతివాడు చీకటిలో నిలిచి యుండకుండునట్లు నేను ఈ లోకమునకు వెలుగుగా వచ్చియున్నాను.

There was a person (John, the Baptist)
sent by God, to be a witness (ప్రత్యక్షంగా చూసిన వ్యక్తి-సాక్షి) and to testify (సాక్ష్యం)
about this Light (which is Jesus), so that all might believe. The true light
(which is Jesus) was coming into the world. This is the true light that gives
light to all people - నిజమైన వెలుగు ఉండెను;
అది లోకములోనికి వచ్చుచు ప్రతిమనుష్యుని వెలిగించుచున్నది.౹. Yes! The mission (లక్ష్యం)
behind Christmas is to give light to all the people. Jesus
was sent to announce release (pardon, forgiveness) to the captives, and
recovery of sight to the blind, and to set free those who are oppressed
(downtrodden, bruised, crushed by tragedy)… (Luke
4:18/Isaiah 61:1-2).
బీదలకు సువార్త ప్రకటించుటకై
- ఆయన నన్ను అభిషేకించెను.
చెరలోనున్న వారికి విడుదలను
- గ్రుడ్డివారికి చూపును, (కలుగునని)
ప్రకటించుటకును.
నలిగినవారిని విడిపించుటకును.

But when the light shined in the
darkness, the darkness did not understand it - ఆ వెలుగు చీకటిలో ప్రకాశించుచున్నది గాని చీకటి దాని గ్రహింపకుండెను..
When Jesus came to this world, do you think he was welcomed? There was no room
for his parents to stay in the inn, because of which his mother gave birth to
Jesus in a stable. When Jesus was born, the people of Jerusalem were upset/disturbed/troubled
(యెరూషలేము వారందరును ఈ సంగతి విన్నప్పుడు కలవరపడిరి.)
and King Herod wanted to kill him (హేరోదు ఆ శిశువును సంహరింపవలెనని ఆయనను వెదకబోవుచున్నాడు).
When Jesus was teaching in the synagogue at Nazareth (his hometown), the people
took Jesus to the edge of the hill to throw him off (Luke 4:16-30/Mark 6:1-6). When Jesus came to the territory of
Gadara, he healed two men from demons within them. And when the whole town knew
this, they begged Jesus to leave their territory (Matt 8:28-34). The Word was already in the world - ఆయన లోకములో ఉండెను. The world was made through him, but
the world did not know him - లోక మాయన మూలముగా కలిగెను గాని లోకమాయనను తెలిసికొనలేదు.౹. He came to the world that was his
own. And his own people did not accept him - ఆయన తన స్వకీయులయొద్దకు వచ్చెను;
ఆయన స్వకీయులు ఆయనను అంగీకరింపలేదు.
We chose a murdered (Barabbas) over our Savior (Luke 23:13-25) and we handovered our Messiah to the cross.

Because of the darkness in our hearts,
we did not understand him. We chose darkness over light. We chose to reject the
light, because all things become visible
when they are exposed by light, for it is light that makes everything visible -
సమస్తమును ఖండింపబడి వెలుగుచేత ప్రత్యక్షపరచబడును;
ప్రత్యక్షపరచునది ఏదో అది వెలుగేగదా (Eph 5:13).
We did not want the light to expose our dark sins and unclean leper sores. For every wrongdoer hates the Light, and
does not come to the Light for fear that his activities will be exposed and
condemned - దుష్కార్యము చేయు (3:20 లేక,
అభ్యసించు)
ప్రతివాడు వెలుగును ద్వేషిం చును, తన క్రియలు దుష్‌క్రియలుగా కనబడకుండునట్లు
(3:20 మూలభాషలోతన క్రియలు గద్దింపబడకుండునట్లు)
వెలుగునొద్దకు రాడు (John 3:20). When Jesus exposed the religious leader’s hypocrisy, inner tombs
and their mistakes, instead of accepting their sins, they were plotting to
arrest and kill him. Jesus Rebukes the
Pharisees and Scribes (Luke 11:37-54), The Jewish Leaders Plan to Kill Jesus
(John 11:45-57), Jesus condemns (ఖండించారు) the Pharisees and the Teachers of the
Law of Moses (Matthew 23:1-36).

But
some people did accept him. They believed in him, and he gave them the right to
become children of God. They became God’s children, but not in the way babies
are usually born. It was not because of any human desire or plan. They were
born from God himself.
తన్ను ఎందరంగీకరించిరో వారికంద రికి, అనగా తన నామమునందు విశ్వాసముంచినవారికి,
దేవుని పిల్లలగుటకు ఆయన అధికారము అనుగ్రహించెను.౹ వారు దేవునివలన పుట్టినవారేగాని,
రక్తమువలననైనను శరీరేచ్ఛవలననైనను మానుషేచ్ఛవలననైనను పుట్టినవారు కారు.౹
Now it’s time for us to realize about
our dark deeds and we need to know we are going nowhere with that. There is a
day when we have to answer for all our sins. We have another option though.
Though we are not worth, our Creator came to this world to save us from our
sins. The Word became a man and lived among us - ఆ వాక్యము శరీరధారియై మనమధ్య నివసించెను.
We saw his divine greatness—the greatness that belongs to the only Son of the
Father. The Word was full of grace and truth - ఆ వాక్యము కృపాసత్యసంపూర్ణుడుగా మనమధ్య నివసించెను.
Jesus is the Lamb of God - దేవుని గొఱ్ఱెపిల్ల,
who takes away the sins of the world - లోకపాపమును మోసికొనిపోవు దేవుని గొఱ్ఱెపిల్ల.
and He is the Son of God - తండ్రివలన కలిగిన అద్వితీయకుమారుడు.
Grace (కృపా)
and truth (సత్యం)
came through Jesus Christ and from him we all received one blessing after
another - ఆయన పరిపూర్ణతలోనుండి మనమందరము కృప వెంబడి కృపను పొందితిమి.౹.
