1 Kings 11:1-8 (King Solomon sinned
against God, worships idols and marries daughters from another kingdoms)
Solomon Turns Away from God
11:1 Solomon loved many foreign women.
Besides the daughter of the king of Egypt he married Hittite women and women
from Moab, Ammon, Edom, and Sidon. 2 He married them even though the Lord had
commanded the Israelites not to intermarry with these people, because they
would cause the Israelites to give their loyalty to other gods.

3 Solomon married seven hundred princesses and also had
three hundred concubines. They made him turn away from God, 4 and by the time
he was old they had led him into the worship of foreign gods. He was not
faithful to the Lord his God, as his father David had been.

5 He worshiped Astarte, the goddess

also built places of worship where all his foreign wives could burn incense and
offer sacrifices to their own gods.

The Lord was angry with Solomon
9-10 Even though the Lord, the God of
Israel, had appeared to Solomon twice and had commanded him not to worship
foreign gods, Solomon did not obey the Lord but turned away from him. So the
Lord was angry with Solomon

God Raises Enemies against Solomon
14 So the Lord caused Hadad, of the
royal family of Edom, to turn against Solomon. (As king of Edom, Hadad was an
evil, bitter enemy of Israel.)

Eliada to turn against Solomon. - the leader of a gang of outlaws - his

32 So in those days the Lord began
to cut off portions of Israel;

they would not obey; they were stubborn like their ancestors, who had not
trusted in the Lord their God.

They refused to obey his instructions, they did not keep the covenant he had
made with their ancestors, and they disregarded his warnings. They worshiped
worthless idols and became worthless themselves, and they followed the customs
of the surrounding nations, disobeying the Lord's command not to imitate them.

broke all the laws of the Lord their God and made two metal bull-calves to
worship; they also made an image of the goddess Asherah, worshiped the stars,
and served the god Baal.
16 వారు తమ దేవుడైన యెహోవా ఆజ్ఞలన్నిటిని యనుసరింపక పోతవిగ్రహములైన రెండు దూడలను చేసి దేవతాస్తంభములను నిలిపి ఆకాశసమూహమునకు నమస్కరించి బయలుదేవతను పూజించిరి.౹
17 They
sacrificed their sons and daughters as burnt offerings to pagan gods; they
consulted mediums and fortunetellers, and they devoted themselves completely to
doing what is wrong in the Lord's sight, and so aroused his anger.

The Lord was angry with the Israelites and banished them from his sight,
leaving only the kingdom of Judah.

Yoke
1 Soon after Josiah's son Zedekiah became king of Judah, the Lord told me 2
to make myself a yoke out of leather straps and wooden crossbars and to put it
on my neck. 3 Then the Lord told me to send a message[a] to the kings
of Edom, Moab, Ammon, Tyre, and Sidon through their ambassadors who had come to
Jerusalem to see King Zedekiah. 4 The Lord Almighty, the God of
Israel, told me to command them to tell their kings that the Lord had said: 5
“By my great power and strength I created the world, human beings, and all the
animals that live on the earth; and I give it to anyone I choose. 6 I am the
one who has placed all these nations under the power of my servant, King
Nebuchadnezzar of Babylonia, and I have made even the wild animals serve him. 7
All nations will serve him, and they will serve his son and his grandson until
the time comes for his own nation to fall. Then his nation will serve powerful
nations and great kings.
1 యూదారాజైన యోషీయా కుమారుడగు . యెహోయాకీము (27:1 కొన్ని ప్రాచీన ప్రతులలో సిద్కియా అను పాఠాంతరము.) ఏల నారంభించినప్పుడు యెహోవా యొద్దనుండి వాక్కు యిర్మీయాకు ప్రత్యక్షమై యీలాగు సెలవిచ్చెను.౹ 2–యెహోవా నాకు ఈ ఆజ్ఞ ఇచ్చుచున్నాడు– నీవు కాడిని పలుపులను చేయించుకొని నీ మెడకు కట్టుకొనుము.౹ 3 వాటిని యెరూషలేమునకు యూదారాజైన సిద్కియాయొద్దకు వచ్చిన దూతలచేత ఎదోము రాజునొద్దకును మోయాబు రాజునొద్దకును అమ్మోనీయుల రాజునొద్దకును తూరు రాజునొద్దకును సీదోను రాజునొద్దకును పంపుము.౹ 4 మరియు ఆ దూతలు తమ యజమానులకు తెలియజేయవలెనని యీ ఆజ్ఞ వారితో చెప్పుము–మీరు మీ యజమానులకు తెలియ జేయవలెనని సైన్యములకధిపతియైన ఇశ్రాయేలు దేవుడు సెలవిచ్చునదేమనగా 5–అధిక బలముచేతను చాచిన బాహువుచేతను భూమిని భూమిమీదనున్న నరులను జంతువులను నేనే సృజించి, ఎవరికిచ్చుట న్యాయమని నాకు తోచునో వారికే యిచ్చుచున్నాను.౹ 6 ఇప్పుడైతే దేశములన్నిటిని నా దాసుడగు బబులోను రాజైన నెబుకద్రెజరు వశము చేయుచున్నాను; అతని సేవించుటకై భూజంతువులను కూడ అతని వశము చేయుచున్నాను.౹ 7 అతని స్వదేశమునకు కాలమువచ్చువరకు సమస్తజనులు అతనికిని అతని కుమారునికిని అతని కుమారుని కుమారునికిని దాసులైయుందురు, ఆ కాలము రాగా బహుజనముల మహారాజులు అతనిచేత దాస్యము చేయించుకొందురు.౹
Isaiah 30:2
Who proceed down to Egypt Without consulting Me, To take refuge in the safety
of Pharaoh And to seek shelter in the shadow of Egypt!

Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help And rely on horses, And trust in

9 Do not listen to your prophets or to those who claim they can predict the future, either by dreams or by calling up the spirits of the dead or by magic...10 They are deceiving you and will cause you to be taken far away from your country.
9 కాబట్టి మీ ప్రవక్తలేమి, సోదెగాండ్రేమి, కలలు కనువారేమి, కాలజ్ఞానులేమి, మంత్రజ్ఞులేమి, మీరు ... వారిని లక్ష్యపెట్టకుడి.౹ 10 .., మీరు నశించునట్లును వారు అబద్ధ ప్రవచనములు మీకు ప్రకటింతురు.౹

The sins of Israel are being noted:
The sin of Judah is written down with an iron stylus; With a diamond point it is engraved upon the tablet of their heart

అది వజ్రపు మొనతో లిఖింపబడియున్నది;
అది వారి హృదయములనెడి పలకలమీదను చెక్కబడియున్నది.
Comments:
- God commanded Israel to engrave the names of the twelve sons of Israel on two stones (రాతి పలక). (six of their names on one stone and the remaining six names on the other stone, arranged in the order of their births. ) (Exodus 28:9, 11, 21)
- And to engrave the words, “HOLY TO YEHWEH” on a rosette of pure gold (Exodus 28:36)
36 “You shall also make a plate of pure gold and engrave on it, like the engravings of a signet, ‘Holy to the Lord.’ (Dedicated to the Lord - GNT, Holiness To The Lord - KJV)

- God engraved the law on the tables of the covenant that Moses brought down from Mount Sinai (Exodus 32:16)
16 The tablets were the work of God, and the writing was the writing of God, engraved on the tablets.

But now what is being engraved is “the sin of Judah”
– its not engraved not on stone,
but “on the table of their heart / హృదయములనెడి పలకలమీద”
We also find the “on the table of their heart” phrase in the book of Proverbs (3:3; 7:3)
Proverbs 3:3. దయను సత్యమును ఎన్నడును నిన్ను విడిచి పోనియ్యకుము
వాటిని కంఠభూషణముగా ధరించుకొనుము. - నీ హృదయమను పలకమీద వాటిని (దయను సత్యమును) వ్రాసికొనుము.
Proverbs 7:3. నీ వ్రేళ్లకు వాటిని (నా మాటలను, నా ఆజ్ఞలను) కట్టుకొనుము

Comments
- The altar (బలిపీఠము) of burnt offering. (దహన బలి) (Ex 27:2)
- The altar (బలిపీఠము) of incense (ధూపము) (Ex 30:2 - మరియు ధూపమువేయుటకు నీవు ఒక వేదికను చేయవలెను ...You shall make an altar upon which to burn incense)
- On the Day of Atonement (ప్రాయశ్చిత్త దినము), the priest (ప్రధాన యాజకుడు) sprinkles the blood of the sacrificial animal on the horns of the altar – a process of which the sins are forgiven (Lev 4:7 ; 16:18). The Day of Atonement - Leviticus 16.This ritual must be performed once a year to purify the people of Israel from all their sins.
- Adonijah grasped the horns of altar to escape the wrath of King Solomon (1 Kings 1:50-51).
- In other words it was symbol of mercy – forgiveness of sins – refuge.
- Now however the symbolism is reversed. The sin of Judah is engraved on the horns of the altar as a permanent accusation (శాశ్వత ఆరోపణ).

As they remember their children, So they remember [in detail] their [pagan] altars and their Asherim (Wooden carvings of the goddess Asherah.) Beside green trees on the high hills.

“Altars”, “green trees” and “high hills” are code phrase that reflect Baal worship (Deut 12:2; 1 Kings 14:23; 2 Kings 16:4; 2 Chro 28:4; Jer 2:20; 3:6, 13).
What is Asherah?
Its a female image of a goddess of the Canaanites, the female counterpart of Baal, and it was cut out of a tree trunk still standing in the ground. That is where the word "groves" comes from.

Consequences for their sins:
Jer 17:3. O [Jerusalem] My mountain in the countryside, I will give [to the Babylonians, as the cost of your sin] your wealth and all your treasures as plunder, And throughout your territory, your high places of sin.
పొలములోనున్న నా పర్వతమా, నీ ప్రాంతములన్నిటిలో నీవుచేయు నీ పాపమునుబట్టి నీ ఆస్తిని నీ నిధులన్నిటిని నీ బలిపీఠములను దోపుడుసొమ్ముగా నేనప్పగించుచున్నాను.౹
- The consequences (పరిణామాలు) of Judah’s unfaithfulness (అవిశ్వాసాన్ని) will be terrible (భయంకరమైన / ఘోరమైన).
- In this instance, Jeremiah is predicting that God will give Judah’s territory (భూభాగం / దేశము) – its heritage (వారసత్వం) – to an enemy as spoil of war (దోపుడుసొమ్ము). This will come true shortly when Babylonia sacks Jerusalem, loots the temple, kills many of the city’s inhabitants and carries the rest into exile in Babylonia.

of your [grip on your] inheritance That I gave you;
And I will make you serve your enemies In a land which you do not know;
For you have kindled a fire in My anger Which will burn forever.

Jer 2:17 Have you not brought this on yourselves by forsaking the Lord your God when he led you in the way?
17 నీ దేవుడైన యెహోవా నిన్ను మార్గములో నడిపించుచుండగా నీవు ఆయనను విసర్జించుటవలన నీకు నీవే యీ బాధ కలుగజేసికొంటివి గదా.
- When Judah suffers (గురవుతాయి) disastrous (ఘోరమైన) defeat (ఓటమి), they will not need to ask who is to blame(నింద) - (నేను నీకిచ్చిన స్వాస్థ్యమును నీ అంతట నీవే విడిచిపెట్టితివి).
- This is an allusion to the
exile (వెలివేయు / దేశములో నుంచి వెళ్ళకొట్టు) that the people of Judah will suffer in Babylonia.
- This sounds as if God has
written off these people forever, but that is not the case. As we will see, god
has not finished with these people yet. He has harsh words of judgement in this
chapter, but will later hold out the promise of redemption (42:10).

And (Cursed is the man) whose mind and heart turn away from the Lord.

Jer 2:14-19. The Results of Israel's Unfaithfulness
14 “Israel is not a slave; he was not born into slavery. Why then do his enemies hunt him down?

16 Yes, the people of Memphis and Tahpanhes have cracked his skull.
17 Israel, you brought this on yourself - You deserted me, the Lord your God, while I was leading you along the way.
18 What do you think you will gain by going to Egypt to drink water from the Nile?
What do you think you will gain by going to Assyria to drink water from the Euphrates?
19 Your own evil will punish you, and your turning from me will condemn you.
You will learn how bitter and wrong it is to abandon me, the Lord your God, and no longer to remain faithful to me. I, the Sovereign Lord Almighty, have spoken.”

17:8. “For he will be [nourished] like a tree planted by the waters, - That spreads out its roots by the river; - And will not fear the heat when it comes; - But its leaves will be green and moist. - And it will not be anxious and concerned in a year of drought - Nor stop bearing fruit.
వాడు జలములయొద్ద నాటబడిన చెట్టువలె నుండును; అది కాలువల ఓరను దాని వేళ్లు తన్నును; వెట్ట కలిగినను దానికి భయపడదు, దాని ఆకు పచ్చగానుండును, వర్షములేని సంవత్సరమున చింతనొందదు కాపు మానదు.౹
His life will be like below:
- will be [nourished] like a tree planted by the waters - That spreads out its roots by the river (జలములయొద్ద నాటబడిన చెట్టువలె నుండును; అది కాలువల ఓరను దాని వేళ్లు తన్నును;)
- And will not fear the heat when it comes - But its leaves will be green and moist. (వెట్ట కలిగినను దానికి భయపడదు, దాని ఆకు పచ్చగానుండును వెట్ట కలిగినను దానికి భయపడదు, దాని ఆకు పచ్చగానుండును)
- And it will not be anxious and concerned in a year of drought - Nor stop bearing fruit. వర్షములేని సంవత్సరమున చింతనొందదు కాపు మానదు.
- Heat and year of drought is nothing but temptation and problems in this world. Ex: Job.
Psalms 1:2-5
2 యెహోవా ధర్మశాస్త్రమునందు ఆనందించుచు - దివారాత్రము దానిని ధ్యానించువాడు ధన్యుడు.
3 అతడు నీటికాలువల యోరను నాటబడినదై - ఆకు వాడక తన కాలమందు ఫలమిచ్చు చెట్టువలెనుండును. - అతడు చేయునదంతయు సఫలమగును.
4 దుష్టులు ఆలాగున నుండక - గాలి చెదరగొట్టు పొట్టువలె నుందురు.
5 కాబట్టి న్యాయవిమర్శలో (Judgment) దుష్టులును - నీతిమంతుల సభలో పాపులును నిలువరు.

Matthew 15:19. For out of the heart come evil thoughts--murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander.

17:9 The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it?

Today is the day to check where your heart is and who are you trusting on. If your heart is turned away from the Lord, you will trusts in and rely on mankind, making [weak, faulty human] flesh your strength and you are cursed.
You believed in idols

20 అంతట సమూయేలు జనులతో ఇట్లనెను– భయపడకుడి, మీరు ఈ కీడు చేసిన మాట నిజమే, అయినను యెహోవాను విసర్జింపకుండ ఆయనను అనుసరించుచు పూర్ణహృదయముతో ఆయనను సేవించుడి.౹ 21 ఆయనను విసర్జింపకుడి, ఆయనను విసర్జించువారు ప్రయోజనము మాలినవై రక్షింపలేని మాయా స్వరూపములను అను సరించుదురు. నిజముగా అవి మాయయే.౹

5 Happy are those who have the God of Jacob to help them and who depend on the

keeps his promises;
3 రాజులచేతనైనను నరులచేతనైనను రక్షణ కలుగదు. వారిని నమ్ముకొనకుడి
4 వారి ప్రాణము వెడలిపోవును వారు మంటిపాలగుదురు. వారి సంకల్పములు నాడే నశించును.
5 ఎవనికి యాకోబు దేవుడు సహాయుడగునో, ఎవడు తన దేవుడైన యెహోవా మీద ఆశపెట్టుకొనునో వాడు ధన్యుడు.

You trust in military and strength.
Psalm 20:7. Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name
of the LORD our God.
కొందరు రథములనుబట్టియు కొందరు గుఱ్ఱములను బట్టియు అతిశయపడుదురు
మనమైతే మన దేవుడైన యెహోవా నామమునుబట్టి అతిశయపడుదము.
- And people who believe in money, people and human strength -
- your life will be like a bush in the desert,
- growing in a waste land.
- You
cannot perceive what is good.
- You will not know the good God provides you.

God will give us a new heart – God is ready to restore (పునరుద్ధరించు) our heart.

Pro 4:20-23
20 My son, pay attention to what I say; turn your ear to my words.

22 for they are life to those who find them and health to one’s whole body.
23 Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.
20 నా కుమారుడా, నా మాటలను ఆలకింపుము - నా వాక్యములకు నీ చెవి యొగ్గుము.
21 నీ కన్నుల యెదుటనుండి వాటిని తొలగిపోనియ్యకుము - నీ హృదయమందు వాటిని (నా మాటలను, నా వాక్యము) భద్రముచేసికొనుము.
22 దొరికినవారికి అవి జీవమునువారి సర్వశరీరమునకు ఆరోగ్యమును ఇచ్చును.
23 నీ హృదయములోనుండి జీవధారలు బయలుదేరును - కాబట్టి అన్నిటికంటె ముఖ్యముగా నీ హృదయమును భద్రముగా కాపాడుకొనుము
- If your heart is with God, you will trust on God and will be blessed.
- Your life will resemble like a tree growing near a stream and sending out roots to the water.
- You don’t have to be afraid when hot weather comes, because its leaves stay green; it has no worries when there is no rain; it keeps on bearing fruit.

We
need to remember that God miraculously with his mighty arm saved us from
Egypt (slavery). We cannot turn our hearts to Egypt again. For the people whose
hearts have turned back to Egypt,
Acts 7:51 (Stephen’s Speech to the Sanhedrin)
“You stiff-necked people! Your hearts and ears are still uncircumcised. You are
just like your ancestors: You always resist the Holy Spirit!
ముష్కరులారా, హృదయములను చెవులను దేవుని వాక్యమునకు లోపరచనొల్లనివారలారా,(7:51 మూలభాషలోవంచని మెడగలవారలారా, హృదయములయందును, చెవులయందును సున్నతి పొందనివారలారా.) మీపితరులవలె మీరును ఎల్లప్పుడు పరిశుద్ధాత్మను ఎదిరించుచున్నారు.౹
Romans 2:28-29
28 A person is not a Jew who is one only outwardly, nor is circumcision merely
outward and physical. 29 No, a person is a Jew who is one inwardly; and
circumcision is circumcision of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the written
code.
28 బాహ్యమునకు యూదుడైనవాడు యూదుడు కాడు; శరీరమందు బాహ్యమైన సున్నతి సున్నతికాదు.౹ 29 అయితే అంతరంగమందు యూదుడైన వాడే యూదుడు. మరియు సున్నతి హృదయ సంబంధమైనదై ఆత్మయందు జరుగునదే గాని అక్షరమువలన కలుగు నది కాదు.

desire to do your will, O my God; your law is within my heart” (Ps.

8 నా దేవా, నీ చిత్తము నెరవేర్చుట నాకు సంతోషము - నీ ధర్మశాస్త్రము నా ఆంతర్యములోనున్నది.
“I
have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you” (Ps.
119:11).
11 నీ యెదుట నేను పాపము చేయకుండునట్లు - నా హృదయములో నీ వాక్యము ఉంచుకొని యున్నాను.
We need to remove Egypt from our hearts
And
Jesus said in the Sermon on the Mount
“Blessed are the pure in heart: for they
shall see God.”
హృదయశుద్ధిగలవారు ధన్యులు; వారు దేవుని చూచెదరు.
